Everything went according to plan in Karlsruhe where sixth ranked Artland Dragons (11-7) beat 9th ranked Lions (9-9) 93-78 on Saturday. Artland Dragons shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard William Christmas (196-1996, college: CPP) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import forward DeVondre Perry (196-1999, college: Albany) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Lions' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Artland Dragons moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hagen and Dresden. Loser Lions dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Paderborn and Kirchheim. Artland Dragons will meet Science City Jena (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lions will play against 46ers (#3) in Giessen and hope to secure a win.
