Sixth-ranked Beroe (7-9) used its home court advantage to challenge top-ranked Rilski (16-0) in Stara Zagora on Saturday. The visitors from Samokov managed to secure only three-point victory 95-92. However their fans expected much easier game. Rilski looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Beroe helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Chavdar Kostov (196-1988, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). American guard Brandon Randolph (187-1995, college: Utah Valley) contributed with 18 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Darius Hall (188, college: Bryant & Str OH) replied with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Kelsey Barlow (196-1991, college: UIC) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Beroe. Rilski have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-0 record. Beroe at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Chernomorets. Rilski are looking forward to face Akademik P. (#8) in Plovdiv in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beroe will play on the road against CSKA in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
