There was no surprise in Istanbul where 6th ranked Botas A. (9-7) was crushed by second ranked Fenerbahce (13-3) 88-64 on Saturday. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Breanna Stewart (193-1994, college: UConn) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and the other American import point guard Kayla McBride (180-1992, college: Notre Dame) who added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Erica McCall (190-1995, college: Stanford) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Sevgi Uzun (170-1997) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-3 record behind leader Mersin, which they share with Galatasaray. Loser Botas A. keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Fenerbahce's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Emlak.
