Regular Season Round 13: SumDU - Chernigiv 87-65

Bottom-ranked Chernigiv (0-9) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to third ranked SumDU (6-3) 87-65. The game was mostly controlled by SumDU. Chernigiv was better in fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SumDU forced 23 Chernigiv turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by forward Maxim Mikhailov (198-2003) who scored that evening 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Igor Starodub (182-1997) supported him with 20 points and 5 assists. Four SumDU players scored in double figures. Even 28 points by forward Dmitro Kravchenko (193-1997) did not help to save the game for Chernigiv. Forward Olexandr Kovalskiy (202-1998) added 19 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SumDU have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with MBC-Niko 2. Newly promoted Chernigiv still closes the standings with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
