Regular Season Round 19: Izmit - Elazig Karabulut 86-78

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Elazig Karabulut (9-9) lost to third ranked Izmit (14-4) in Kocaeli 78-86 on Sunday. Izmit made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Elazig Karabulut turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Deniz Aygul (186-1995) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds. Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (182-1987, college: Drexel) accounted for 23 points, 10 assists and 4 steals (made all of her seven free throws) for the winning side. American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) came up with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and Selin Oztekin (-1990) added 18 points respectively for Elazig Karabulut in the defeat. Elazig Karabulut's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Izmit. They maintain third place with 14-4 record having four points less than leader Tarsus. Newly promoted Elazig Karabulut keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Edremit. Izmit will meet Urla (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elazig Karabulut will play against Emlak 2 (#14) and hope to secure a win.
