Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Gheorgheni (0-12) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Brasov (6-6) 84-72 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 30-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Brasov shot 28 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Gheorgheni only scored twelve points from the stripe. Brasov forced 31 Gheorgheni turnovers. Alexandru Hodorac (-2004) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) for the winners and point guard Ovidiu Stochici (182-1995) chipped in 24 points. At the losing side Tamas Bodo responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brasov maintains fourth place with 6-6 record. Gheorgheni lost their twelfth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Brasov will meet at home Oradea 2 (#6) in the next round. Gheorgheni will have a break next round.
