Regular Season Round 19: Jena - Artland 78-86

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Science City Jena (8-12) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Artland Dragons (13-7) 86-78 on Wednesday. Artland Dragons made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard William Christmas (196-1996, college: CPP) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws). His fellow American import forward DeVondre Perry (196-1999, college: Albany) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Shaquille Hines (200-1993, college: UTRGV) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and Stephan Haukohl (203-1993, agency: LUMANI 10.7) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Science City Jena's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Artland Dragons. They moved-up to third place. Science City Jena lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Artland Dragons will meet at home league's second-placed Tigers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Science City Jena will play against Kirchheim Knights (#10) and hope to secure a win.
