Regular Season Round 14: Perkunas - Marijampoles 90-108

There was a minor upset in Kaunas where 9th ranked Perkunas (4-10) was defeated by eleventh ranked Marijampoles (2-8) 108-90 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 18 points. Marijampoles outrebounded Perkunas 55-43 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Augustas Merkys (194-2005) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 21 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Adrijus Janciauskas (181-2005) chipped in 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists during the contest. Martynas Mejaras (-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Laurynas Vilimas (-2005) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Marijampoles maintains eleventh position with 2-8 record. Perkunas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Marijampoles are looking forward to face higher ranked Zalgiris II (#7) in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Perkunas will play on the road against Plunges and is hoping to win this game.
