Regular Season Round 12: Timberwolves - BK Duchess 32-77
Date: January 27, 2023
No shocking result in a game when top-ranked BK Duchess (10-0) crushed 6th ranked Timberwolves (4-7) in Vienna 77-32 on Friday. The game without a history. BK Duchess led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timberwolves to just 2 points in second quarter and to 8 points in first half. BK Duchess held Timberwolves to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. BK Duchess forced 40 Timberwolves turnovers. The winners were led by the former international center Sarah Schicher (187-1990, college: Dowling) who scored that evening 9 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international guard Lisa Zderadicka (168-1994, college: FGCU) supported her with 15 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. Even 6 points and 14 rebounds by Spanish forward Cristina Ninon (180-2002) did not help to save the game for Timberwolves. Croatian guard Iva Ilic (170-1997, college: Nova SE) added 8 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BK Duchess have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-0 record. Timberwolves lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with DBB LZ OOE. BK Duchess will meet DBB LZ OOE (#5) in the next round. Timberwolves' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vienna Flames.
