Regular Season Round 19: FC Porto - Esgueira 94-73
Date: January 27, 2023
Very predictable result when first ranked FC Porto (17-1) rolled over at home 9th ranked Esgueira (7-12) 94-73 on Friday. FC Porto looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Marvin Clark (201-1994, college: St.John's, agency: Slash Sports) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Francisco Amarante (196-2000) accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Forward Hugo Sota (199-1993) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Antonio Lucas (177-2003, agency: Promo Sport ID) added 8 points and 14 assists respectively for Esgueira in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Porto have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-1 record. Esgueira lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Imortal. FC Porto will meet Sporting (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Esgueira will play against CAB Madeira (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
