Leader ALBA Berlin delivered the fifteenth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Hakro Merlins (7-9) 100-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hakro Merlins. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hakro Merlins' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Israeli point guard Tamir Blatt (178-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. The former international Tim Schneider (208-1997) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. American Jaren Lewis (201-1996, college: ACU) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard James Batemon (185-1997, college: LMU) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Five ALBA Berlin and four Hakro Merlins players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ALBA Berlin (15-1) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Hakro Merlins at the other side dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Rostock. ALBA Berlin are looking forward to face MBC (#13) in Weissenfels in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hakro Merlins will play on the road against EWE Baskets in Oldenburg and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
