Regular Season Round 17: Iserlohn - Rist Wedel 90-64
Date: January 28, 2023
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Iserlohn where 10th ranked Rist Wedel (6-9) was rolled over by eleventh ranked Kangaroos (7-9) 90-64 on Saturday. Kangaroos forced 19 Rist Wedel turnovers. American guard Michael Cubbage (193-1998, college: SFC) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Croatian-Bosnian Marko Boksic (203-1993, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Kangaroos players scored in double figures. American point guard Harrison Cleary (185-1997, college: UMC) responded with 23 points and forward Marc Nagora (203-1993) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kangaroos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Schwelm and Speyer. Rist Wedel at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Kangaroos will meet higher ranked RheinStars (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rist Wedel will play against TKS 49ers (#8) in Stahnsdorf and hope to secure a win.
