Eighth-ranked Akademik P. (6-10) gave a tough game to leader Rilski (17-0) in Plovdiv on Saturday. The visitors from Samokov managed to secure only one-point victory 79-78. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Akademik P.. Rilski forced 19 Akademik P. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international Chavdar Kostov (196-1988, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American forward Demajeo Wiggins (208-1997, college: BGSU) chipped in 18 points. The former international Vasil Bachev (195-1992, college: Cuesta JC) responded with 16 points and 5 assists and American center Tyler Creammer (208-1997, college: VMI) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akademik P.'s coach Jordan Yankov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rilski have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. Akademik P. at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Rilski are looking forward to face Yambol (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Akademik P. will play against Spartak Pleven and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
