Regular Season Round 17: Herford - BSW Sixers 68-106

Leader Sixers delivered the fourteenth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 12th ranked Herford (2-14) 106-68. Sixers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Herford's 34 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Sixers forced 19 Herford turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Herford's players. The best player for the winners was American swingman Donte Nicholas (196-1987, college: FPU) who had a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists. Serbian point guard Aleksa Kovacevic (187-2002) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Naturalized American Shawn Gulley (200-1993, college: Temple JC) produced 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Israeli guard Jordan Mello-Klein (185-1998, college: Bentley) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Herford's coach David Bunts gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sixers (14-2) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place. Herford lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Sixers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Herford will play on the road against Dragons Rhoendorf (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
