The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Rm Valcea II's (9-3) home loss to top-ranked Phoenix Corona (11-0) in Ramnicu Valcea 82-90 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Rm Valcea II won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Armin Cane (188-1993, college: Stockton) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Senegalese power forward Ousmane Barro (207-1984, college: Marquette) supported him with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cane is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Phoenix Corona players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard Lamar Hamrick (193-1998, college: Portland St., agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Rm Valcea II. His fellow American import Ajay Singh (199, college: Westmont, agency: Haylett Sports) added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Rm Valcea II's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Phoenix Corona have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Newly promoted Phoenix Corona maintains first position with 11-0 record. Rm Valcea II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second place with three games lost.
