An interesting game for Benfica (16-2) which hosted in Lisbon 4th placed Oliveirense (10-8). Second ranked Benfica managed to get a 12-point victory 83-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oliveirense. Benfica forced 20 Oliveirense turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American center Terrell Carter II (208-1996, college: Fresno St., agency: Haylett Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points. His fellow American import guard Aaron Broussard (196-1990, college: Seattle) accounted for 16 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Benfica's coach Norberto Alves used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Joao Balseiro (192-1987) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Congolese-Central African Max Kouguere (198-1987) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Oliveirense in the defeat. Four Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Benfica have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-2 record behind leader FC Porto. Loser Oliveirense dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Benfica will meet Povoa (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oliveirense will play against Imortal and hope to secure a win.
