Regular Season Round 19: Gmunden - Furstenfeld 93-71
Date: January 29, 2023
Very predictable result when second ranked Gmunden Swans (14-4) rolled over at home 10th ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (5-13) 93-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Furstenfeld Panthers managed to win fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Furstenfeld Panthers 41-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Gmunden Swans looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Furstenfeld Panthers' players. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Urald King (198-1990, college: SE Oklahoma) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Toni Blazan (197-1992, agency: Mansfield and Associates) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Gmunden Swans' coach Anton Mirolybov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jaylen Butz (206-1999, college: WKU, agency: Players Group) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Norwegian power forward Andrija Blatancic (201-1995, college: St.Cloud St.) added 22 points respectively for Furstenfeld Panthers in the defeat. Five Gmunden Swans and four Furstenfeld Panthers players scored in double figures. Gmunden Swans maintains second place with 14-4 record having just two points less than leader Vienna. Newly promoted Furstenfeld Panthers keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Gmunden Swans will meet UBSC Graz (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Furstenfeld Panthers will play against Timberwolves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
