There was a minor upset in Frankfurt where 13th ranked Hamburg Towers (6-11) were defeated by sixteenth ranked Skyliners (5-12) 97-93 on Sunday. Skyliners looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Joshua Obiesie (198-2000) stepped up and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Lithuanian Laurynas Beliauskas (193-1997) chipped in 14 points. Swiss guard Anthony Polite (198-1997, college: FSU) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Slovenian point guard Ziga Samar (197-2001) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hamburg Towers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Skyliners maintains sixteenth place with 5-12 record. Hamburg Towers lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Skyliners will meet at home higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (#14) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hamburg Towers will play against Seawolves and hope to secure a win.
