Regular Season Round 16: Gelisim Koleji - Tofas 78-79

The most exciting game of round 16 in the U19 League took place in Izmir. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of much higher ranked Ozel Gelisim Koleji (11-5) to fourth ranked Tofas (11-5) 79-78 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ozel Gelisim Koleji. Tofas forced 24 Ozel Gelisim Koleji turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ozgur Cengiz (185-2005) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Guard Cem Kucukozkan (193-2005) contributed with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Emir Apaydin (-2004) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Dogan Bozveli (-2005) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Ozel Gelisim Koleji. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tofas moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ozel Gelisim Koleji. Tofas is looking forward to face Buyukcekmece (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Ozel Gelisim Koleji will play against TED Ankara (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
