Regular Season Round 19: Dresden - Trier 79-95

There was a surprise result in Dresden where ninth ranked Gladiators (10-10) won against higher ranked Titans (11-8) 95-79 on Sunday. Gladiators made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Gladiators outrebounded Titans 36-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a great evening for American Daniel Monteroso (191-1994, college: West Liberty) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Luxembourg Alex Laurent (198-1993) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Daniel Kirchner (187-1997) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and naturalized American Grant Teichmann (191-1996, college: C-N) scored 17 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gladiators maintains ninth place with 10-10 record. Newly promoted Titans keep the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hagen and Nuernberg. Gladiators will meet at home league's leader Rasta Vechta in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titans will play against 46ers (#4) in Giessen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
