Regular Season Round 18: Akademik PL 2 - Vihar Aytos 71-102

An interesting game for Vihar Aytos (10-4) which played road game in Plovdiv against one of their biggest challengers Akademik PL 2 (8-4). Third ranked Vihar Aytos had an easy win 102-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Akademik PL 2. Vihar Aytos made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Akademik PL 2 46-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. Vihar Aytos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Stoyan Petkov (198-1985) notched a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Konstantin Koev (196-1991) supported him with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Vihar Aytos' coach Decho Koeshinov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized Greek point guard Ioannis Kikrilis (184-2004) did not help to save the game for Akademik PL 2. Guard Krastomir Mihov (194-2004) added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Vihar Aytos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-4 record having just eight point less than leader Minyor 2015, which they share with CSKA 2. Newly promoted Akademik PL 2 keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Vihar Aytos will meet Mambas (#5) in the next round. Akademik PL 2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Plovdiv 3.6.9. BC.
