The game between third ranked Esgueira (11-5) and ninth ranked Natacao (5-12) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Esgueira was defeated by Natacao in a tough game in Natacao 46-50. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Esgueira. Natacao held Esgueira to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Esgueira 52-34 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cuban Isabela Quevedo (188-2003) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Alison Lewis (178-1996, college: Delaware) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Natacao's coach Agostinho Pinto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Vashti Nwagbaraocha (181-1997, college: William Penn) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Ines Ramos (164-2001) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Esgueira. Newly promoted Natacao maintains ninth place with 5-12 record. Esgueira at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Natacao are looking forward to face bottom-ranked CDEFF (#12) in Lisbon in the next round. Esgueira's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Aveiro Galitos.
