Regular Season Round 17: Anadolu Efes - Petkim 90-64
Date: January 29, 2023
There was no surprise in Istanbul where 11th ranked Socar Petkim (6-11) was outplayed by fourth ranked Efes (12-5) 90-64 on Sunday. Efes shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Senegalese-French Amath MBaye (205-1989, college: Oklahoma) who scored 19 points. Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-1994, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 14 points. Four Efes players scored in double figures. American Phil Booth (190-1995, college: Villanova) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian-Haitian point guard Kenny Chery (180-1992, college: Baylor, agency: Slash Sports) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Efes. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Pinar Karsiyaka. Loser Socar Petkim keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Efes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Dacka.
