Regular Season Round 22: Edremit - Elazig Karabulut 71-70

The most exciting game of round 22 in the TKBL took place in Balikesir. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Elazig Karabulut (10-12) to seventh ranked Edremit (13-9) 71-70 on Saturday evening. Edremit had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Elazig Karabulut's players. American center Zakyia Weathersby (188-1998, college: UAB) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Arifecan Vardar (181-2003) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Edremit players scored in double figures. American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and center Gulfer Tokatli (193-2002) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Elazig Karabulut's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Edremit have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Elazig Karabulut lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Edremit are looking forward to face Bogazici (#9) in Bursa in the next round. Elazig Karabulut will have a break next round.
