Regular Season Round 18: Hatay - Cankaya 65-70

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Hatay (8-10) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Cankaya (8-10) 70-65 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tan White (170-1982, college: MSU) who scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Croatian-American Shavonte Zellous (178-1986, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Alexis Prince (188-1994, college: Baylor) who recorded 30 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Busra Akbas (174-1995) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Cankaya moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Besiktas and Hatay. Hatay lost third consecutive game. Cankaya will meet at home bottom-ranked Rize (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hatay will play against Besiktas (#9) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
