There was no surprise in Plovdiv where 8th ranked Akademik P. (6-11) was defeated by fifth ranked Spartak Pleven (10-8) 90-77 on Saturday. The former international power forward Tsvetomir Chernokojev (205-2000, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Stanimir Marinov (193-1991) chipped in 12 points and 9 assists during the contest. Five Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international center Krastan Krastanov (206-1999, agency: BIG) with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Vasil Bachev (195-1992, college: Cuesta JC) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartak Pleven have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Akademik P. keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Yambol. Spartak Pleven will meet league's leader Rilski in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Akademik P. will play against Levski (#3) in Sofia and hope to secure a win.
