There was an upset when higher ranked Lions (10-10) lost to sixteenth ranked Duesseldorf (6-14) in Karlsruhe 74-89 on Saturday. Duesseldorf had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Canadian point guard Ryan Richmond (183-1996, college: Bentley) who scored that evening 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Booker Coplin (191-1997, college: Augsburg) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Even 17 points and 8 assists by American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) did not help to save the game for Lions. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Duesseldorf maintains sixteenth position with 6-14 record, which they share with Leverkusen. Loser Lions keep the eighth place with ten games lost.
