There was no surprise in Istanbul where 12th ranked Manisa (7-16) was crushed by second ranked Fenerbahce G. (18-4) 81-61 on Saturday. Fenerbahce G. forced 20 Manisa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Doga Adican (178-2001) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Idil Sacalir (178-2002) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Fenerbahce G. players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Tearra Banks (188-1995, college: Austin Peay) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Pelin Kuccuk (172-1990) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fenerbahce G. maintains second position with 18-4 record having four points less than leader Tarsus. Newly promoted Manisa dropped to the fourteenth place with 16 games lost. Fenerbahce G. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Manisa will play against Diba Ankara (#11) and hope to secure a win.
