There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Tuebingen (7-12) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Bensheim (7-11) 87-71 on Saturday. Bensheim dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tuebingen's 26. Bensheim forced 22 Tuebingen turnovers. Canadian point guard Reece Brooks (178, college: Lindsey Wilson) fired 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Marc Liyanage (199-1990, college: Delta St.) chipped in 19 points. Forward Joshua Schwaibold (198) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and Louis Thieme added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Tuebingen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bensheim moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Limburg. Tuebingen lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with BG TVO / Jahn and Leverkusen 2. Bensheim will meet league's leader Saarlouis on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tuebingen will play against Limburg (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
