Regular Season Round 9: Blyskavky 2 - Interkhim 45-101

Not a big story in a game in Vinnytsia where bottom-ranked Blyskavky 2 (0-12) was rolled over by third ranked Interkhim (7-2) 101-45 on Saturday. The game without a history. Interkhim led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Blyskavky 2 to just 7 points in second quarter. Interkhim dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Blyskavky 2's 26 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Interkhim forced 33 Blyskavky 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 53-29 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Blyskavky 2's players. The best player for the winners was forward Kseniia Pankina (180-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The former international center Yevgeniya MBaye (192-1992) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Interkhim's coach Iryna Shchipakina felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Victoria Bogachenko (170-2005) who recorded 26 points and 6 steals and Ulyana Makoghin (170-2006) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Interkhim maintains third place with 7-2 record having six points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Blyskavky 2 lost their twelfth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Interkhim will meet Sumy (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Blyskavky 2 will have a break next round.
