There was no surprise in Rostock where 9th ranked Seawolves (8-10) were defeated by fourth ranked EWE Baskets (12-6) 80-73 on Sunday. Seawolves were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard DeWayne Russell (180-1994, college: GCU) fired 25 points and 9 assists for the winners. Tanner Leissner (201-1995, college: UNH) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Nijal Pearson (196-1997, college: Texas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Selom Mawugbe (208-1998, college: Azusa Pacific) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Seawolves' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. EWE Baskets maintains fourth place with 12-6 record. Newly promoted Seawolves dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. EWE Baskets will meet league's leader ALBA Berlin on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Seawolves will play against the league's second-placed Telekom Baskets (#2) and hope to secure a win.
