BBL top team - ALBA Berlin (16-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat twelfth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (7-11) 94-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MLP Academics Heidelberg. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MLP Academics Heidelberg won fourth quarter 30-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ALBA Berlin shot 61.0 percent from the field. ALBA Berlin had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. ALBA Berlin players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a quality performance for American Luke Sikma (202-1989, college: Portland) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. New Zealand center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) accounted for 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American point guard Eric Washington (183-1993, college: Miami, OH) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and Maximilian Ugrai (201-1995, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 22 points respectively for MLP Academics Heidelberg in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA Berlin have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. ALBA Berlin will play against EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg in the next round. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play on the road against BG Goettingen (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
