Not a big story in a game in Crailsheim where 11th ranked Hakro Merlins (7-10) were edged by sixth ranked Chemnitz (10-7) 82-79 on Sunday. Lithuanian point guard Arnas Velicka (195-1999) fired 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. South Sudanese-Canadian Aher Uguak (201-1998, college: Loyola, IL) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. American guard James Batemon (185-1997, college: LMU) produced 15 points and the former international Maurice Stuckey (187-1990) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Five Chemnitz and four Hakro Merlins players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Chemnitz moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg. Loser Hakro Merlins dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Weissenfels. Chemnitz will meet at home higher ranked Bayern Muenchen (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hakro Merlins will play against BG Goettingen (#8) and hope to secure a win.
