There was no surprise when 14th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (7-13) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked BG Goettingen (11-7) 87-81 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. BG Goettingen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to MLP Academics Heidelberg's 36. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Harper Kamp (203-1988, college: California) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 rebounds and Geno Crandall (191-1996, college: Gonzaga) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Point guard Eric Washington (183-1993, college: Miami, OH) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and Tim Coleman (196-1995, college: NJIT) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BG Goettingen moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg. MLP Academics Heidelberg lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hamburg. BG Goettingen will meet Chemnitz (#7) on the road in the next round. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against s Oliver Baskets (#9) in Wuerzburg and hope to secure a win.
