Seventh-ranked Atletas (13-17) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Vytis (19-12) in Kaunas on Thursday. The visitors from Sakiai managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected easier game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vytis made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-2001) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Medas Kuprijanovas (197-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Gytis Sirutavicius (195-1983) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Atletas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytis maintains fifth place with 19-12 record. Atletas at the other side keeps the seventh position with 17 games lost. Vytis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atletas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris II.
