Second Stage Round 6: Rytas 2 - Neptunas-Akv. 98-77

Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Rytas 2 (12-19) rolled over bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. (5-26) in Vilnius 98-77 on Saturday. Rytas 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas-Akv.'s 30 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Neptunas-Akv. 44-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rytas 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Greek Andreas Kalogiros (198-2002) notched 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and guard Arnas Adomavicius (191-2000, college: UNCG) supported him with 20 points and 8 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Rytas 2 players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 8 assists by guard Adomas Sidarevicius (188-2001) did not help to save the game for Neptunas-Akv.. Gabrielius Mazeika (206-2003) added 14 points. Neptunas-Akv.'s coach Alfredas Kaniava gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Rytas 2 moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Palanga and Vilkaviskis. Neptunas-Akv. lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 26 lost games. Rytas 2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilnius Stekas.
