Second Stage Round 6: Mazeikiai - Suduva-Mantinga 71-67

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Suduva-Mantinga (26-5) on the court of fourth ranked Mazeikiai on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Mazeikiai 71-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. Mazeikiai had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-1985) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Karolis Guscikas (206-1992, agency: BIG) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Aurelijus Pukelis (205-1994) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Evaldas Dziaugys (196-1996) added 16 points in the effort for Suduva-Mantinga. Mazeikiai (20-11) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Mazeikiai are looking forward to face Atletas (#7) in Kaunas in the next round. Suduva-Mantinga will play at home against the league's second-placed Telsiai (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
