Regular Season Round 18: SumDU - Poltava 86-46

The game between second ranked SumDU (8-4) and 5th ranked Poltava (4-8) in Sumy on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. SumDU outscored guests from Poltava 86-46. The game without a history. SumDU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Poltava to just 5 points in second quarter and to 12 points in first half. SumDU dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Poltava's 24. SumDU forced 21 Poltava turnovers and outrebounded them 62-31 including a 26-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Yevgen Brechko (206-1992) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and center Vyacheslav Kiktev (210-2002) supported him with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four SumDU players scored in double figures. SumDU's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points by Mykola Boichak did not help to save the game for Poltava. Valeriy Kryshtal added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. SumDU maintains second position with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Krivbas 2. Poltava lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
