Regular Season Round 18: Politekhnik-2 - MBC-Niko 2 90-81

The most important game in the last round took place in Kharkiv between third ranked MBC-Niko 2 (7-5) and fourth ranked Politekhnik-2 (6-6) on Sunday night. MBC-Niko 2 was defeated by Politekhnik-2 in a tough game on the road 81-90. MBC-Niko 2 trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 22-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 81-90 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Politekhnik-2 made 10 blocks. It was a good game for forward Maksym Mochalov (201-1995) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Mikita Bondarenko (199-2000) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 blocks for the winners. Forward Maksym Shtanko (200-1999) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Oleksandr Garbar (200-2001) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for MBC-Niko 2. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Politekhnik-2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Politekhnik-2 maintains fourth position with 6-6 record. MBC-Niko 2 at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
