Regular Season Round 16: VKKM - Marijampoles 106-47

D7 top team - VKKM (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Marijampoles (2-10) in Vilniaus 106-47. The game was mostly controlled by VKKM. Marijampoles was better in fourth quarter 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Marijampoles to just 7 points in first quarter. VKKM held Marijampoles to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Marijampoles 63-44 including a 42-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. VKKM players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Marijampoles' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Justas Ziubrys (183-2005) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and guard Kristupas Lesciauskas (190-2005) who added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists during the contest. Five VKKM players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Adrijus Janciauskas (181-2005) responded with 18 points and Tadas Pultinevicius (-2005) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. VKKM have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-2 record. Marijampoles at the other side keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. VKKM will play against Plunges (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Marijampoles will play against Saule and hopes to get back on the winning track.
