There was a small surprise when Craiova 2 beat at home Politehnica Iasi 91-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova 2. Politehnica Iasi managed to win third quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Craiova 2 shot 27 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Politehnica Iasi only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Politehnica Iasi 53-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. Forward Iulian Corneanu (197-1989) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 23 rebounds to lead the effort and Elvis Lapadat (-1980) supported him with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Craiova 2's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 17 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists by point guard Liviu Rotariu (192-1993) did not help to save the game for Politehnica Iasi. Horia Dragoslav (-2002) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Five Craiova 2 and four Politehnica Iasi players scored in double figures. Craiova 2 will meet Agronomia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Politehnica Iasi will play against Brasov and hope to win that game.
