Date: February 14, 2023
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when Phoenix Corona rolled over on the road Politehnica Iasi 112-64 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Phoenix Corona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Politehnica Iasi's 38. Phoenix Corona forced 33 Politehnica Iasi turnovers and outrebounded them 42-24 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Phoenix Corona looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Armin Cane (188-1993, college: Stockton) notched 25 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Sebastian Costeiu (186-1999) supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Cane is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by Teodor Boghean did not help to save the game for Politehnica Iasi. Horia Dragoslav (-2002) added 13 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Phoenix Corona's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Brasov .
