Everything went according to plan when second ranked Telekom Baskets (17-2) outplayed 11th ranked MBC (8-11) in Bonn 91-57 on Wednesday. Telekom Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to MBC's 32. They outrebounded MBC 40-17 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. International center Leon Kratzer (211-1997, agency: BeoBasket) nailed 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American Tyson Ward (198-1997, college: NDSU) accounted for 8 points and 9 rebounds. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. Martin Breunig (203-1992, college: Montana) came up with 8 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Kris Clyburn (198-1996, college: UNLV) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for MBC in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Telekom Baskets. They maintain second place with 17-2 record behind leader ALBA. Loser MBC dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Telekom Baskets will meet Skyliners (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. MBC will play against Seawolves (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
