Regular Season Round 21: Chemnitz - Goettingen 86-87

The most exciting game of round 21 in the BBL took place in Chemnitz. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked Chemnitz (10-9) to sixth ranked BG Goettingen (12-7) 87-86 on Wednesday evening. 28 personal fouls committed by Chemnitz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Geno Crandall (191-1996, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five BG Goettingen players scored in double figures. Power forward Jonas Richter (206-1997) answered with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Kevin Yebo (207-1996) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Chemnitz. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BG Goettingen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg. Chemnitz at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. BG Goettingen is looking forward to face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chemnitz will play at home against Braunschweig (#16) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
