Very predictable result in Vilnius where third ranked Wolves (14-6) defeated 9th ranked Neptunas (8-12) 79-63 on Wednesday. Strangely Neptunas outrebounded Wolves 39-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Ahmad Caver (188-1996, college: ODU) who scored 31 points and 4 assists. The former international guard Adas Juskevicius (194-1989) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four Wolves players scored in double figures. Power forward Rokas Gustys (206-1994, college: Hofstra) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Oskaras Pleikys (202-2001, agency: BIG) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Neptunas' coach Mindaugas Brazys rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Wolves maintains third position with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Neptunas keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Wolves will meet bottom-ranked Prienai (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Neptunas will play against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
