Regular Season Round 18: Targoviste - Brasov 82-57
Date: February 15, 2023
Bottom-ranked Targoviste managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they outleveled fourth-ranked Brasov 82-57. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 25-point difference suggests that Targoviste is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Targoviste. Brasov managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brasov to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Targoviste forced 19 Brasov turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Alexia Doba (182-2004) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Ancuta Stoenescu (175-1980) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian Biljana Pesovic (180-1983) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Serbian-Bosnian center Nikolina Zubac (188-1998) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Brasov's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Targoviste maintains eleventh position with 2-13 record. Loser Brasov dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Targoviste will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brasov will play against Rapid (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
