Rather expected game when 6th ranked Panevezio (9-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked LSU-Kaunas (13-2) 66-62. LSU-Kaunas forced 25 Panevezio turnovers. The winners were led by the former international guard Kriste Timofejeva (180-1992) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Kornelija Balciunaite (176-1981) supported her with 4 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four LSU-Kaunas players scored in double figures. LSU-Kaunas' coach Kornelija Balciunaite allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points and 8 rebounds by forward Vilte Andrunaviciute (178-2004) did not help to save the game for Panevezio. The former international center Julita Bungaite (187-1987, college: Hawaii) added 6 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. LSU-Kaunas have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Panevezio at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. LSU-Kaunas will play against Vilniaus univ. (#4) on the road in the next round. Panevezio will play against Druskininku and hopes to get back on the winning track.
