Regular Season Round 22: Sporting - Sangalhos 98-64

Very expected game when 12th ranked Sangalhos (1-21) were smashed by third ranked Sporting (18-4) in Lisbon 98-64 on Saturday. Sporting dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sangalhos' 26 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Sporting forced 23 Sangalhos turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Sangalhos' players. American forward Isaiah Armwood (206-1990, college: GWU) notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import center Joshua Patton (203-1997, college: Sacramento St.) supported him with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Sporting players scored in double figures. Sporting's coach Pedro Nuno Monteiro felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds by Angolan point guard Cleuzio Castro (180-1997) did not help to save the game for Sangalhos. Cape Verdean Anderson Correia (195-1997) added 13 points and 5 assists for lost side. Sporting have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Porto. Sangalhos lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 21 lost games.
