There was a small surprise when sixth ranked SG Braunschweig (11-7) outscored at home 4th placed Aschersleben (12-6) 81-54 on Saturday. They outrebounded Aschersleben 55-32 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sananda Fru (205-2003) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Turkish center Mertcan Gerhardt (202-2002) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward DaJuan Moorer (206, college: Lander) with 8 points and 11 rebounds and forward Julius Stahl (197-1995) scored 13 points. Aschersleben's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. SG Braunschweig moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Goetting.ASC. Aschersleben at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. SG Braunschweig will meet Rendsburg (#8) on the road in the next round. Aschersleben will play against Goetting.ASC (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
