Second Stage Round 1: Vasco - Queluz 96-92

Vasco used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Queluz 96-92 on Sunday night. Vasco looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Elias Cave (201, college: Minot St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks for the winning side and his fellow American import center Jaja Davis (196, college: Montreat) accounted for 27 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-1987) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and American guard Drew Buggs (190-1997, college: Winthrop) added 18 points, 6 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals respectively for Queluz in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vasco will meet Galitos in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Queluz will play against Galitos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
